The cold is quietly loosening its grip, and we have each been busy in our own corner of life. Pushing ahead with StoryPress, racing toward the final chapters of a thesis, getting ready to farewell a friend moving far away, rehearsing for a production, growing a little closer to new friends. Every life carries its own weight. Now that even winter is behind us, I hope your shoulders feel a little lighter.

Creamy Chicken Burritos

Shred some well-seasoned chicken, then stir-fry it with julienned carrot, onion and fluffy rice. Spoon the hot filling onto a soft tortilla, tear in some Swiss cheese, fold in the ends and roll it up, then set it seam-side down in a hot pan. Keep turning until golden all over, and it's done. The cheese adds a rich, mellow flavour, so a grind of black pepper or some fresh fruit on the side goes nicely.

Suddenly, So Close

There are less than two months until my thesis is due. I have only just had a supervision meeting and started writing the later chapters, so part of me feels rushed. But I trust that if I keep taking each step slowly and carefully, I will find myself at the finish before I know it. Seeing the end of this two-year Master's come into view leaves me glad and a little hollow at the same time. It's not over yet, though. For now, I keep running!

This Week's Expression

“"Mom, hold it for me!"”

Home from school and halfway through her snack, Jin suddenly remembered something and turned to me. "Mom, hold it for me, please!" Whenever a sentence I never taught her comes out this naturally, I'm quietly startled, though I try not to show it. I stood holding her snack until she came back, took it with a quick "thank you", and ran off again. I wonder what she'll come out with tomorrow.
