3 Girls, 3 Colours of the Holidays : Jin
A little designer and her very patient model.

Dance, Dance, Dance!
On the very first Saturday of the holidays, Jin tagged along to Mum's group meeting at university before heading off to her ballet studio. (And we came home with a wonderful collection of free books from the library! More on this lovely haul coming soon.) During the first week, she attended the dance studio's holiday programme for three days. Even though it meant spending most of her day at the studio, from 9 am to 4 pm, longer than a regular school day, she happily set off each morning.

The holiday programme had a different theme each day: K-pop on the first day, Movie Star on the second, and Fashionista on the final Friday. Along with learning dances, there were plenty of games and activities to keep everyone busy. Each day, Jin came home with an empty lunchbox, having eaten all her favourite sandwiches, and carrying colouring pages she'd worked on while waiting and drawings she'd made during the activities. The moment she climbed into the car, she couldn't wait to tell me all about her day.

Home, Home, and Home
After an exciting first week, Jin, who had been showing signs of a cold, suddenly developed a fever over the weekend. She suffered from a high fever throughout the weekend, and by the following week, she was crying because her ear hurt. She's not one to cry easily, even when she's unwell, so I called the GP several times that morning and was lucky enough to get a cancelled appointment. We came home with the antibiotics, and Jin ended up spending the entire second week at home.

Looking for something to do, she discovered an art activity book tucked away in a corner downstairs and worked through several pages at a time. On the night she couldn't sleep because of her earache, Jin fell in love with the story I read to her. Unfortunately for Mum, she's been bringing me long books to read aloud ever since. She practised reading, carefully blending sounds together just as she'd learnt at school. She also spent time on StoryPress, finishing two books and working her way through a third. She picked out soft fabrics from Mum's fabric box and begged me to make clothes for her beloved toy dog. Even though she was unwell, she kept herself busy, with hardly a moment to be bored.
