Term 2 wrapped up in a happy blur, and now a short holiday has begun. We haven't signed up for any holiday programmes this time, so we're filling the days with small things instead.
With Terms 3 and 4 ahead, I'd love for the children to grow a little more confident reading and writing in English. And from late July I'll be starting my placement, so before that begins I want to spend a bit more unhurried time with them. What I keep coming back to are the quiet activities — reading together, making books, writing.
The holiday isn't long, but I'd love for us to read more, so I've put together a set of Reading Bingo cards. My children have very firm reading habits — the same few favourites, over and over — and their attention drifts more and more from books to devices. So I made four kinds of Reading Bingo for them, and I'm sharing them here.

Four cards, four ways in. Reading at home in all sorts of spots and ways. Reading out and about around the neighbourhood. Reading across different genres. Reading through different settings and worlds.
No set order, no rush — one square at a time, one small memory at a time. I hope that at the end of this short holiday, we'll meet children who've grown a step closer to books.
Download the full set below — all four cards in one file, in colour and black & white. Print at A4, two or four cards per page.
